Gum inflammation usually begins with gum bleeding and can progress to affect bone levels, potentially leading to tooth loss if untreated. Gum diseases that have not yet reached the bone level can be managed with scaling and root planing procedures.
In advanced stages, treatment may include scaling, root planing, and flap surgery planned over several sessions. Additionally, after gum recession, procedures such as free gingival grafts, connective tissue grafts, and crown lengthening with flap surgery may be applied depending on the condition of the gums.
